Cardiff CC produced another accomplished performance at Forest Farm, posting 288 for 6 from their fifty overs before bowling out Newport CC, Wales for 250 to seal a 38-run victory.

The innings was built on a platform laid in the middle overs, with the middle order finding boundaries at a steady rate to push the total well beyond par on a used surface. Newport’s chase never quite found the rhythm required, falling short despite scattered periods of positive strokeplay.

The win keeps Cardiff firmly in the promotion picture heading into the closing weeks of the season, with the bowling attack once again proving difficult to break down in the field.
